Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers can either be non-permanent or permanent. We only use NON-permanent fillers because they have a proven record of safety over many years and because as your face changes over the years they allow us to adjust how we treat your face in future years. These fillers are made from hyaluronic acid which is a natural sugar found in many parts of the body. It is also completely reversible, so if you don't like we can dissolve it.

Dermal fillers volumise the face and they provide instantaneous results which you will recognize immediately. The results will continue to improve over the next month as water is drawn in from the surrounding tissues. Dermal fillers not only attract water, they actually induce the body to produce more collagen. Dermal fillers are often used in conjunction with anti-wrinkle injections and last from 9 to 12 months in most cases.

Dermal fillers are very quick and simple to perform. We start by using a local anaesthetic so that the procedure is virtually pain free. After this the whole area to be treated is thoroughly cleaned with disinfectant and tiny needles are used to inject the dermal filler gel into the skin. Once all the areas have been treated, a gentle massage is carried out to ensure the result is even and smooth. Finally ice and some recovery cream is applied and you can even apply some light makeup before leaving.

After dermal fillers patients can return to regular activities. Dermal filler injections are very safe but the following are some common side effects:  local tenderness and redness; swelling for 48 to 72 hours and bruising. Rarely small lumps can occur which disappear by themselves or may need to be dissolved and very, very rarely allergic reactions, which can be managed with anti allergy medications.
